Founded by faculty from Tallinn University of Technology in Estonia, IoT Technologies is commercializing a decade of research focused on distributed sensing / computing technology. The technology was initially applied to defense applications (see Defendec (www.defendec.com)). We are now taking the technology to the healthcare domain, more specifically to wellness monitoring, helping family members, caregivers and physicians to obtain a better understanding of the health of the person.

IP Finland brings value to academic expertise through commercialisation proficiency. We discover the underlying business potential in research results and intellectual property, and turn that potential into profitable reality. The formation of spin-out companies is our main commercialisation channel. Through our shareholders we also access a vast national and international technology transfer network which provides industrial licensing or technology aggregation opportunities. JV Consultant Oy is my family office investing in technology companies in ICT, Media, Medical Technologies as well as Industrial Automation and Cleantech. Investment amounts vary between 25-100 k euros, preferably as part of syndications.  The company also acts as a strategy consultant and M&A boutique for high technology companies.

Jarkko Virtanen is the CEO. Jarkko has 17 years of VC/PE experience as investment director / partner in SFK Finance, 3i. He has also acted as senior advisor for Capman plc in Nordics and 3TS Capital in CEE. Jarkko has executed and managed over 25 investments and exits as an active hand-on board member or chairman of the board.
